FUNCTION/DESIGN
A pressure washer in it’s most basic form consists of a pump and a motor.  The motor drives the pump thereby applying pressure on the water.  This pressure on the water will cause very high water speed and which is utilised during the cleaning.  The effect of this is very similar to pinching the garden hose only far more efficient.  The pump provides a constant volume of water while the pressure depends on the size of the nozzle attached to the end of the lance.

Cold water pressure washers are pressure cleaners with the water temperature almost identical to the water inlet temperature.  In case of water cooled engines slight heating of the high pressure water will however take place.

In principle a hot water cleaner could be described as a cold water cleaner with an added boiler to heat the water.  Heating takes place in the coil of the boiler, but prior to heating the inlet water has past the float chamber on its way to the high pressure pump.  From the pump the water is pumped via the boiler coil onto the lance.  This construction will ensure the high pressure pump is always running with cold water, resulting in the lowest possible load on the pump.  By in large hot water cleaners are operating with the same pressure and water amounts as corresponding cold water cleaners.  The dominating difference is in the water temperature, with the possibility of stepless adjustment up to 100 degress celcius.  Some models have steam stage, offering the possibility of steam production.  Detergents can be added through internal or external injector.  In a hot water cleaner the internal injector is placed before the high pressure pump, permitting adding of detergent during high pressure as well as low pressure cleaning.  Thereby adding of detergent can take place during high pressure cleaning.

USAGE AREA
Hot & cold water pressure washers are used in; agriculture, within the automobile, transportation, warehousing, haulage, in the building and construction sector and in a great number of other fields where soils can be removed by cold water.  Fats and oils are often treated but not dominating to such a degree as to call for hot water.
Other applications may be; conservatories, patios, pathways, paving, vehicles, PVCU windows, building fascias, roofs, guttering, car parks, childrens play areas,
