Aqueous Ozone: Sanzonate

sanzonate fill station dispenser of aqueous ozone (AO/ASO)

First things first, what is Aqueous Ozone?

A powerful alternative cleaner that is 100% safe and environmentally friendly. It can be used to deeply clean, decrease, sanitise, and deodorise any hard surface.

Is it safe?

Aqueous Ozone (AO) or ozonated water is a natural oxidation process – we’ll explain this later. Ozone (O3) is a very biodegradable molecule and after it’s relatively short life of up to four hours, simply reverts to oxygen (O2) and water (H2O).  AO is recognized by the FDA as safe and has earned GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status.  AO devices are Registered with and Regulated by the EPA, is compliant with the EPA Organic Program, and is an approved member of the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) that develops and enforces consistent national standards for organically produced agricultural products.

What makes Aqueous Ozone unique?

It’s completely safe for people and the planet. You can spray it on your hands, your food, and even if it’s accidentally ingested, it won’t cause us any harm. That’s because multiple studies have shown it has zero health risks. Compared to traditional cleaning, chemicals like bleach or chlorine-based products – known culprits for triggering asthma, irritating skin, and harming eyes – Aqueous Ozone is completely safe. It delivers powerful cleaning without the toxic side effects, making it a safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly chemical alternative.

How does Aqueous Ozone work?

In nature, ozone is formed by lightning causing an ordinary oxygen molecule (O2) to split into two oxygen atoms (O), which rejoin the ordinary molecules (O2) to form Ozone or O3. Ozone can also be synthesized or man-made by combining an electrical charge with oxygen creating O3 which is infused into water. Thus, the term Aqueous Ozone. Whilst in this charged state, it becomes a very effective cleaner and sanitiser which deeply penetrates every scratch, chip, scrape and crack. Thanks to the unique air filter inside Sanzonate fill stations, there is no need to frequently re-purchase expensive cartridges which Sanzonates competitors require. The air filter will need replacing, but significantly less than cartridges. Aqueous ozone solution will eliminate 99.999% of bacteria and stay in this powerful cleaning state for up to 4 hours. Once sprayed/used, the solution takes up to 5 minutes to fully sanitise the surface, leaving no residue.

Significant Savings

Switching to Sanzonate Aqueous Ozone isn’t just a win for the environment – it’s a smart financial move too. Traditional cleaning chemicals often come with high recurring costs, not to mention the expense of storing, handling, and disposing of them safely. With Aqueous Ozone, you’re generating your own powerful cleaner on-site using just water and electricity – without using heat – which significantly cuts down on energy, purchasing and logistics costs, and drastically reduces packaging waste. Over time businesses can see major savings without compromising on cleanliness, hygiene or sustainability standards.

Is it for everyone?

Absolutely. Aqueous Ozone can be used in spray bottles, mop buckets and scrubber dryers, and is especially beneficial in industries where hygiene is critical and cleaning costs are high – think healthcare, education, food production and service, hospitality, and manufacturing. Hospitals and care homes can use it to maintain strict infection control without exposing vulnerable people to harsh chemicals. Schools and nurseries benefit from a safer, residue-free clean that’s kind to young skin and lungs. In the food industry, it offers a chemical-free way to sanitise food contact surfaces, while hotels and gyms can ensure spotless, odour-free environments without strong chemical smells polluting the air. If your business is committed to safety, sustainability, and cost-efficiency, Aqueous Ozone is a clear choice.
